Sources checked September 11, 2026: FIU official admitted-student profile and the August 2026 Bright Futures Student Handbook, Chapter 1: eligibility and Chapter 2: funding. These are admitted-student profiles, not enrolled-class statistics or admission cutoffs. FIU’s cited pathway tables are labeled 2025; they should not be relabeled as 2026.
For a South Florida family, the intended program, campus and start term all affect the plan. Compare the actual commute and housing arrangement along with the admissions pathway. A familiar university name does not mean every offer has the same conditions.
FIU describes Fall Direct as its most selective pathway. Early Fall Direct begins in summer and requires students to complete FIU coursework over that semester as a condition of admission. The published 2025 SAT ranges are 1250 to 1390 and 1110 to 1190, respectively. A 1300 falls within the Fall Direct range, but the score alone does not determine the offer.
A 1190 is at the upper endpoint of FIU’s published 2025 Early Fall Direct SAT range and 60 points below the lower end of its Fall Direct range. Neither endpoint is an admission guarantee. For 2027 graduates, the standard SAT thresholds are 1330 for FAS and 1190 for FMS; for 2028 graduates, they are 1350 and 1200. FAS covers 100% and FMS 75% of eligible tuition and applicable fees at FIU. GPA, coursework, approved hours, the FFAA and other eligibility conditions also apply. Housing, meals and other costs are separate. Check the requirements for your graduation year and our handbook walkthrough.
FIU’s size does not make the test score a formality. It publishes different academic profiles for different pathways and describes Fall Direct as the most selective. Use the relevant profile with the student’s GPA, coursework and program interests instead of relying on an unverified overall or pathway acceptance-rate estimate.
The standard first-year route requires an SAT, ACT or CLT score. Review FIU’s official requirements for score submission and any alternative pathway that applies to your situation. Eligible students earning a Florida high-school diploma and an A.A. through dual enrollment should check the university’s separate pathway instructions.
For 2025, FIU reports Fall Direct SAT 1250 to 1390 and Early Fall Direct SAT 1110 to 1190. Keep the pathway and year attached to those figures. The cited page does not provide a separate 2026 summer profile.
University size does not establish an applicant’s chances. FIU’s official page distinguishes Fall Direct and Early Fall Direct but does not publish the pathway acceptance rates previously quoted here. Evaluate the applicable pathway rather than treating a blended percentage as an admission forecast.
For 2027 graduates, 1190 meets the standard FMS SAT threshold; for 2028, that threshold is 1200. The other scholarship conditions still apply. These scores can be useful milestones in an FIU testing plan, but neither automatically secures admission to a particular pathway.
