Carson Flowers founded Florida Test Prep after going through this exact process himself at Plant High School. No college fund, a first SAT of 1050, and a system he built to fix it. By senior year he scored a 1430. That number earned $30,000 in Bright Futures, a spot in FSU Honors, a very selective Presidential Scholarship, and $81,000 in scholarships in total.

National test prep companies assign you a tutor in another time zone who has never heard of Bright Futures. That is the difference.

What Jupiter students are actually competing against

Palm Beach County sends more freshmen to Florida State than every county in Florida except Miami-Dade and Broward, and ten Palm Beach high schools sit on FSU's feeder list, more than any other county in the state. These are not reach schools here. Here is the range they actually admit.

Notice the overlap. The Bright Futures Florida Academic Scholars score of 1330 sits inside UCF's admitted range, above FAU's entire middle 50 percent, inside the Wilkes Honors College range, and fifty points below FSU's floor. One training target, several doors.

How Palm Beach County high schools actually score

Palm Beach County graduated 14,213 students in the class of 2025. 12,656 of them took the SAT, which is 89 percent, and they averaged 989. The Florida average was 995, and the state tested 80 percent of its graduates. Palm Beach tests a much wider slice of its class than the state does, which pulls an average down. Here is what it looks like school by school.

Not one public high school in Palm Beach County averages at the full Bright Futures line. The county's highest, Suncoast Community in Riviera Beach, is a countywide magnet and it still lands 41 points short of 1330. Dreyfoos, the arts magnet in West Palm Beach, is 90 short. Those two are also the only schools in the county that clear the 75 percent line of 1190 at all.

Jupiter High School averages 1068, the sixth highest average in the county. That is 122 points below the 75 percent line and 262 below the full one. William T. Dwyer, ten minutes up Military Trail, averages 1029. Palm Beach Gardens High averages 893. Those are the three schools most Jupiter families are choosing between, and none of them gets an average student to a Bright Futures score on its own.

Your teen's zoned school sets the starting conditions. It does not decide the score. Carson's own first SAT was 108 points below what his high school averaged, and he finished 272 points above it.

Where Palm Beach students actually end up

Most test prep sites talk about UF and FSU in the abstract. Here is the concrete version for Palm Beach County, from Florida State's own enrollment reporting.

Palm Beach is the third largest source of FSU freshmen in Florida, behind only Miami-Dade and Broward. Nearly 2,900 Palm Beach students are enrolled at FSU right now. This is a well-worn path, not a long shot.

Which Palm Beach high schools send the most students to FSU

FSU publishes every high school in the country that sent it 26 or more freshmen. Fifty-five schools clear that bar and ten of them are in Palm Beach County, more than any other county in Florida. These are the top five:

Look at the second row. Jupiter Community sends more freshmen to FSU than any school in Palm Beach County except Spanish River. Forty-five of them last fall, out of a school that averages 1068. Volume and average are not the same thing. A large school with a middling average still sends plenty of students, because the ones who clear the bar clear it individually rather than as a building. William T. Dwyer, for the record, does not appear on FSU's list at all.

So the path out of Jupiter is already worn. Forty-five families a year walk it from one high school. Nothing on this page says your teen cannot be one of them. It says the score is the thing standing between them and it, and the score is the part you can actually change.

Jupiter has fewer SAT test centers than almost anywhere in Florida. Plan around it.

We pulled College Board's test center search for the September 12, 2026 administration and counted what comes back around each Florida metro. Nowhere we checked has fewer centers inside ten miles than Jupiter does.

The two closest centers to Jupiter are both in Palm Beach Gardens, about three and a half miles from town: William T. Dwyer Community High School and The Benjamin School. Neither one is in Jupiter, and for the September date both were already showing no seats available.

Three ways Jupiter families should actually use this

1. Register the day registration opens. With two centers inside ten miles, the seat near home is the first thing to go. On the September date we checked, both Palm Beach Gardens centers were already full while eight of the ten centers inside twenty-five miles still had seats. Registering early is worth more here than in almost any other Florida metro.

2. Decide on the backup drive before you need it. The nearest center with an open seat was Palm Beach Lakes in West Palm Beach, about twelve miles out. After that it is Royal Palm Beach, Westlake, Stuart, Forest Hill and Wellington, all sixteen to twenty miles. Pick which of those you are willing to drive to at 7am now, rather than at 9pm the night registration closes.

3. Do not let a full center cost you a test date. There are only seven or eight Saturdays a year, scores take two to four weeks, and Bright Futures needs a test taken by August 31 of the graduation year. In Fort Lauderdale, an hour down the same coast, there are forty-nine centers within twenty-five miles. In Jupiter there are ten. A missed registration costs a family here more than it costs almost anyone else in the state.

Down the coast and across the state

Every Florida county tests differently and scores differently, and the differences are bigger than most families expect. These are the metros nearest Jupiter, each with its own numbers.

Bright Futures is a Jupiter parent's biggest lever

Every Florida student is eligible for the same award, regardless of what a family earns. That is worth stating plainly in Jupiter, because the assumption that a scholarship must be need-based costs families here real money every year. Bright Futures is not need-based. It is a score, a GPA and service hours. By the time a parent calls us the GPA and the hours are usually handled, and the score is the piece still in play.

• 1190 earns Florida Medallion Scholars, roughly 75% of tuition, worth about $22,000
• 1330 earns Florida Academic Scholars, 100% of tuition, worth about $30,000
• Scores must come from a test taken by August 31 of your teen's graduation year, which ends senior-year testing earlier than most families expect

That 140-point gap between the two tiers is worth about $8,000. It is the highest-return studying your teen will do this year.

Questions Jupiter parents ask

Do you have a location in Jupiter?

No, and that is deliberate. We coach online, which means your teen works with the strongest strategist for their situation rather than whoever staffs the nearest storefront. There are tutoring centers in Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens, and plenty of them are perfectly good. What they generally are not is SAT specialists who know the Bright Futures cutoffs cold. The company is Florida-based and works with Florida families only.

Does FAU require the SAT?

Yes. Florida never adopted test-optional admissions. Every school in the State University System, FAU and FIU included, requires an SAT, ACT or CLT score. A Florida student without a test score does not have a complete application anywhere in the system.

When should a Jupiter student start?

Earlier than most Jupiter families plan for, and there is a local reason. Jupiter has no SAT test center inside the town, so every sitting means registering for a seat in Palm Beach Gardens or further. Seats near you fill first and registration closes about two weeks out. Sophomores should take a baseline diagnostic now and sit a real test late sophomore or early junior year. Juniors should test in the fall rather than waiting for spring. Seniors should count backward from the August 31 Bright Futures cutoff, because there are fewer usable dates left than it looks.

What does it cost?
