Start with 4 English, 4 math, 3 science, 3 social science and 2 world-language credits. Your counselor can confirm which courses meet the subject requirements.
Eligible advanced courses receive an extra 0.50 quality points per full credit (0.25 per half credit). Select “BF weighted” only for approved Honors, AP, IB, AICE, pre-IB, pre-AICE or academic dual-enrollment courses.
Divide weighted quality points by credits. The displayed estimate stops at two decimals without rounding up. GPA thresholds are 3.00 for Medallion and 3.50 for Academic Scholars.
For example, one full-credit regular A contributes 4 quality points; an eligible weighted A contributes 4.5. A half-credit weighted A contributes 2.25 points. Two such half-credit courses equal one full credit and 4.5 points.
It may differ. A school can include other subjects or use different weights. Use the qualifying courses and Bright Futures weights instead of copying the overall GPA from your report card.
The handbook permits up to two additional eligible academic credits, including certain AP, IB or AICE fine-arts courses, to raise the GPA. Once the selected 16-credit core is complete, this tool compares combinations of the additional courses you enter and includes only a combination that improves the estimate. It does not move courses between the core and additional groups.
Enter completed courses for a partial estimate. An incomplete core is labeled clearly, and the result cannot be sent to the eligibility checker until all five subject totals are complete. Hypothetical future grades are planning scenarios, not earned grades.
Ask about course-code eligibility and weighting, the writing and lab requirements, the world-language sequence, repeated courses, failed grades, credit-by-exam and any nonstandard transcript entries. This estimator cannot resolve those cases. Use the official evaluation for an award decision.
