The short answer: admitted University of Florida students in the Fall 2025 class posted a middle-50% SAT of 1380–1510. To be competitive, treat 1450+ as the working target; below about 1380, the rest of the application has to carry unusual weight.
The real numbers (from UF, not a guess)

- Middle 50% ACT: 31–34
- Weighted GPA: 4.5–4.7
- Applications: 91,896 — with 18,169 admitted, roughly a 20% admit rate
Five years ago, UF was a safety school for strong Florida students. It is not anymore. Four out of five applicants are turned away, and almost half of all SAT takers nationally carry an A average — which is precisely why UF leans on the one number that can't be inflated.
Does UF require the SAT?
Yes. Florida's public universities never went test-optional — all twelve State University System schools require an SAT, ACT, or CLT score by Board of Governors regulation. A Florida student without a test score has no application.
What “middle 50%” actually means for your teen
A 1380 doesn't mean rejection and a 1510 doesn't mean admission — it means 25% of admitted students scored below 1380 and 25% above 1510. Practically: at 1450+, the score helps the application. At 1380–1440, it's neutral and essays, rigor, and GPA decide. Below 1380, the score is a headwind.
