The short answer: UCF's admitted class for Fall 2026 posted a middle 50% SAT of 1310 to 1420. A 1370 or higher makes your teen solidly competitive. Below 1310, the application needs real strength elsewhere.

The misconception: UCF's size means the score barely matters
The current data card for UCF, restamped whenever we re-verify the numbers, lives on our University of Central Florida page. This guide is about the 2026-27 cycle: what changed, when to test, and how to plan the climb.
The numbers
- Middle 50% SAT (admitted): 1310 to 1420
- Middle 50% ACT: 28 to 32
- Recalculated core GPA: 4.11 to 4.57
- Applications: 70,030, with 28,612 admitted, about 41%
One note on this cycle: UCF's floor held at 1310 while the published ceiling moved from 1430 to 1420. Treat the band as the current bar, nothing more. Like every Florida public university, UCF requires an SAT, ACT, or CLT score. Florida never went test-optional.
The misconception: UCF's size means the score barely matters
Families hear that UCF enrolls more students than almost any campus in the country and assume the door is wide open. Enrollment is not admission. For Fall 2026, UCF admitted 28,612 of 70,030 applicants, about 41 percent, the entering class posts a 1310 floor on the middle 50%, and the recalculated core GPA band starts at 4.11. Treat UCF like the competitive school it now is, and let a strong score be the reason the size works in your teen's favor instead of against it.
The 2026-27 testing calendar for a UCF-bound student
A junior aiming at UCF for Fall 2027 should plan two test dates: a first sitting in spring of junior year and a retake in August or the fall. Two sittings beat one almost every time, because the first test tells you exactly which sections are costing points. One deadline outranks the rest: Bright Futures only counts tests taken by August 31 of the graduation year, so the scholarship clock runs out before UCF's application deadlines do. Testing early keeps both doors open. Current dates are on our Florida SAT test dates page.
| Date | Deadline | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| August 22, 2026 | Register by August 7, 2026 | First SAT date of the 2026-27 cycle |
| October 3, 2026 | Register by September 18, 2026 | Fall sitting that still leaves November and December retakes |
| March 6, 2027 | Register by February 19, 2027 | Spring sitting for juniors in the class of 2028 |
| June 5, 2027 | Register by May 21, 2027 | Last SAT date of the 2026-27 cycle |
| August 31 of the graduation year | Test taken and FFAA filed by this date | Bright Futures cutoff. Scores from later tests do not count. |

The Bright Futures sweet spot
Notice where UCF's range sits: the Florida Academic Scholars threshold of 1330 lands squarely inside it. A student who trains to the 100% tuition score is simultaneously a competitive UCF applicant and 50 points from FSU's floor of 1380. One training target, two payoffs, and a running start on a third.
Heads up for younger students: for the class of 2028 and later, the state raises the lines to 1350 for Academic Scholars and 1200 for Medallion (ACT 25 for Medallion, CLT 96/83). Full breakdown in our handbook walkthrough.
Quick answers
Does UCF require the SAT?
Yes. UCF requires an SAT, ACT, or CLT score, like every Florida public university. Florida never adopted test-optional admissions.
Is a 1330 enough for UCF?
A 1330 sits inside UCF's admitted middle 50% of 1310 to 1420, so it is genuinely competitive. It clears the Bright Futures Academic Scholars threshold in the same motion. A 1370 or higher is stronger still.
When should my teen take the SAT for a Fall 2027 application?
First sitting in spring of junior year, retake in late summer or fall. The August 31 Bright Futures cutoff makes early testing the safe plan.
Does the SAT superscore for Bright Futures?
Yes. The state combines your teen's best Reading and Writing score with their best Math score across every sitting. A retake can only help the Bright Futures number, which is one more reason to plan two test dates instead of one.
