Florida college news: September 7–13, 2026. UF’s Jacksonville campus is the main new development in this edition. We also revisit two updates covered in our previous roundup: FSU’s marching band invitation and USF’s incoming class.

Does UF’s Jacksonville campus offer another undergraduate option?
The announcement concerns graduate education and research. UF’s September 10 report says the campus opened Wednesday, September 9. Its planned subject areas include artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, business and engineering management.
For a high-school family, the useful distinction is the type of program. This announcement does not establish a new undergraduate application route. If Gainesville is on your teen’s list, keep planning around UF’s undergraduate admissions requirements.

FSU’s marching band: a campus-fit story
FSU announced on September 7 that the Marching Chiefs will perform at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in November 2027. We covered the invitation in our previous roundup; it is not a second announcement.
If your teen wants to keep playing an instrument in college, ask about auditions, rehearsal commitments and how band fits their intended major. A campus visit can help answer those questions.

USF’s class profile describes enrolled students
USF reports record average SAT scores and high-school GPAs for its newest first-year class. Its reported 9.3% enrollment increase refers to that class, not all students at the university. This is another update carried over from the previous edition.
Those results do not give an individual applicant’s admission odds or prove that acceptance rates fell. Use a clearly labeled admissions profile when comparing your teen’s record, and keep several realistic options on the college list.

What should your family do next?
Use the news to ask better questions about a school. Use its admissions requirements, your teen’s transcript and their testing timeline to build the application plan. A ranking or campus announcement cannot do that job on its own.
