What is the last SAT date UF will accept?

For the 2026-27 cycle, the last SAT date UF will accept depends on your application option: scores are due by the materials deadline, which is October 22 for Early Decision, November 8 for Early Action and January 22 for Regular Decision, so December 5, 2026 is the last SAT sitting before the final Regular Decision deadline. A deferred or waitlisted student can still call UF admissions and ask to add a newer score.

Quick answers

Which SAT date is the last one for your teen's UF application option?

The last SAT that counts is the last one whose scores reach UF before your teen's materials deadline, and that date changes with the option your teen chose.

UF offers three timelines. Early Decision is binding, with applications due October 15 and materials due October 22. Early Action is non-binding, due November 1 with materials by November 8. Regular Decision is due January 15 with materials by January 22. UF's own deadlines page says the materials deadline covers the high school transcript or STARS and the self-reported or official test scores, so a score that arrives after that date was not part of the first read.

Here is how the 2026-27 SAT calendar lines up. For Early Decision, the October 3 sitting is the last one before October 22. For Early Action, the November 7 sitting falls one day before the November 8 deadline, which is too tight to plan around without asking UF first. For Regular Decision, December 5 is the last sitting before January 22; the next SAT is not until March 6.

Scores do not appear the moment the test ends. Check College Board's score release date for the sitting your teen is counting on, then work backward. For the full timing on late fall sittings, our post on which November and December SAT scores UF and FSU can still use walks through it date by date.

What if your teen is deferred or waitlisted by UF?

A deferral or a waitlist keeps the door open, and a newer, higher SAT score is one of the few things your teen can still add.

UF defines a deferral as a decision where the application is neither accepted nor rejected and is reconsidered in a later pool. Early Decision and Early Action applicants can be deferred. Regular Decision applicants can be waitlisted, which UF describes as a sign the student was competitive but the class ran out of space.

Carson's advice here is direct. If your teen is deferred or waitlisted, call UF admissions and ask how to send the new SAT score. "When that does come around, you'll be reconsidered, and you could have a better application," he says in the video. A deferred Early Action student, for example, gets reconsidered with the Regular Decision pool, and that pool's decisions come out March 19.

A denial is different. Carson is honest that a denial is usually final, and he does not know of a reliable way to reverse one. UF lists separate options for denied students on its admissions site. Confirm the current process with UF's admissions office rather than relying on any summary, ours included.

Before your teen spends a spring weekend on another SAT, it helps to know what score range UF admits. The middle half of admitted students for 2026 scored 1420 to 1520.

The misconception: UF's May 1 test score deadline means any SAT before May counts

May 1 is the deadline for official test scores, and it does not reopen a decision UF has already made.

The chart on UF's deadlines page lists an "Official Test Score Deadline" of May 1 for every option. Parents see that line and assume a March 6 SAT can still help a Regular Decision application. By then, Regular Decision materials closed on January 22, and decisions land March 19 for everyone in that pool.

The two dates do different jobs. The materials deadline is when the score your teen wants UF to read must be in, and self-reported scores are accepted for that. May 1 is when UF expects the official score reports. A spring score helps only a student who is still waiting, which in practice means deferred or waitlisted.

One more trap: the May 1, 2027 SAT sitting falls on the very day of that official deadline. It cannot be a plan for UF admission.

Bright Futures runs on a much longer clock than UF

For Bright Futures, your teen can keep testing through August 31 of the graduation year, months after UF's admissions deadlines have passed.

Carson makes this point in the video because so many families mix the two up. UF admission and the Bright Futures scholarship are separate decisions with separate deadlines. The Florida Department of Education handbook says test scores must come from tests taken no later than August 31 of the graduation year, and students may retake as many times as they like through that date.

For the class of 2027, the SAT lines are 1330 for the Academic Scholars award (FAS, 100% of tuition and applicable fees) and 1190 for Medallion Scholars (FMS, 75%). Bright Futures takes the best Reading and Writing score and the best Math score across all sittings. That superscore means a March or June 2027 SAT can still lift a senior over the line even after UF has sent its decision.

If your teen is close to 1330, our retake plan for 2027 graduates short of 1330 lays out which spring dates make sense.

Is a fall retake still worth it for a senior applying to UF?

Yes, if the retake lands before your teen's materials deadline or your teen is later deferred, and it is worth it for Bright Futures either way.

A question we hear a lot goes something like this: my son has a 1150, he is retaking in October, and he plans to sit again in November and December. Is it too late? Carson's answer on camera was "No, it's not too late," with one condition. The decision cannot be out yet. While UF is still reading the file, a new score can go in.

Short timelines can still produce real movement. Amanda, a senior from Miramar, went from 1280 to 1390 in 3 weeks with live SAT classes plus weekly 1-on-1 sessions with her tutor, Karina. Three weeks is the gap between some fall sittings.

For seniors weighing one more attempt, our post on whether it is too late to take the SAT senior year covers the broader question for other schools too.

If you want a second opinion on whether December is the right last shot for UF, or whether the energy belongs on Bright Futures, talk it through with us. The 15-minute call is free, and you will leave with a plan for the next sitting: pick a time that works.

Quick answers

Does UF accept the December SAT?

Yes, for Regular Decision applicants, because the December 5, 2026 sitting comes before the January 22 materials deadline. It is too late for Early Decision (October 22) and Early Action (November 8) first decisions. Check College Board's score release date for that sitting.

Can you send UF a new SAT score after applying?

Yes, as long as UF has not released your decision yet. After a decision, a new score matters only if your teen is deferred or waitlisted, and Carson recommends calling UF admissions to ask how to add it.

Does UF have early admissions?

Yes, UF offers binding Early Decision (applications due October 15) and non-binding Early Action (due November 1). Early Decision results come out December 11 and Early Action results January 22.

Does UF care about SAT scores?

Yes, test scores are part of the required application materials. For 2026, the middle half of admitted students scored 1420 to 1520 on the SAT.

When does UF release admission decisions?

For 2026-27, Early Decision decisions come December 11, Early Action January 22 and Regular Decision March 19. Those dates mark when a new SAT score stops helping the first decision.
