Daniel raised his SAT from a 1300 to a 1410 superscore with Florida Test Prep, after a previous prep program had moved nothing. The diagnostic found the points sitting in the hardest math and English problems, ones he could get right but not fast enough, and the 1-on-1 online sessions drilled only those. The 1410 cleared the 1330 Florida Academic Scholars line by 80 points and landed inside FSU's 2026 admitted range of 1380 to 1480. Where Daniel started
Daniel came in at a 1300 with a specific target set by his mom: "I wanted him to get above a 1400 so that he would have a competitive score to get into schools such as Georgia Tech, Morehouse, NCAT, and also enable him to get some scholarship." Notice her word: competitive. Not guaranteed.
This is a family that had already been burned once. Daniel "did another test prep before this, and I didn't see a difference," she says. His own diagnosis of the gap was precise: "What felt hardest before the course was for sure the hard math problems, as well as some of the harder English problems." A future engineer who could get the hard questions right, just not fast enough.

The diagnostic, and what it found
At a 1300, a generic course re-teaches things a student already knows, which is a fair description of why the first program did nothing for Daniel. The baseline said the opposite of "start over." His misses were clustered at the top of each section: the hardest math problems and the hardest English question types, solvable but slow. That is a narrow target, and narrow targets are what a 1-on-1 plan is for.

Daniel worked 1-on-1 online, and his mom went in skeptical of exactly that: "this is the first time that he had a tutor, especially being online... and this was better than the in-person tutor that we went to." Asked what improved most, Daniel does not hesitate: "What improved the most for me was my speed when doing hard math problems." That is the diagnostic's finding, fixed. His mom adds the part he would not say about himself: "I think your confidence also increased. Like, when you came out of the test, you knew that you did really well in math." The superscore combined his best sittings into the 1410.

The result, and what it unlocked
The 1410 superscore did the job it was hired for: it put Daniel above his mom's 1400 line for the out-of-state engineering schools on his list, and it settled the Florida question at the same time. His own opener in the video is "My SAT score can now get me into UF and FSU," and the honest version of that sentence is the one this page exists to give: a 1410 is inside FSU's admitted range and in the UF conversation, with the Bright Futures scholarship money locked either way.
For an aspiring engineer ("definitely an engineer," mechanical or biomedical still to be decided), a score that keeps every door on the list open is the whole point of prepping.

What Daniel's 1410 says about the UF question
A 1410 is competitive for FSU and in the conversation at UF, and a family should hear both halves of that sentence. UF's 2026 admitted middle 50% is 1420 to 1520, so a 1410 sits just under the floor: strong enough that the score is not the reason a file gets set aside, not strong enough to call it in range. Competitive means the rest of the application decides. For a student who started at a 1300 after a program that did nothing, the diagnostic-first plan is what turned an above-average score into one that keeps every door open.
The misconception: a 1410 is not enough for UF
Families read UF's floor as a cutoff and conclude a score under it is wasted. It is not a cutoff. It is the bottom of the middle half of admitted students, which means a quarter of admits scored below it. A 1410 next to a strong transcript is a real UF application, and it is a comfortable FSU one. The mistake runs the other way too: nobody should call a 1410 a UF lock, and this page does not.

Does a superscore count for Bright Futures?
Yes. The state uses your best Reading and Writing plus best Math across sittings, and Daniel's 1410 superscore clears the 1330 Florida Academic Scholars line by 80 points. Heads up for younger students: for the class of 2028 and later, the state raises the lines to 1350 for Academic Scholars and 1200 for Medallion (ACT 25 for Medallion, CLT 96/83).

Ms. Karen Wolff was my instructor for this class. She was so helpful and understanding throughout the whole course. If I missed a question she never made me feel bad or called me out and always explained answers throughly. The energy she had with my class was bright and it didn’t feel like she had to be there but she wanted to. My practice score before I started here was an 850 and my most recent score was a 1010. Overall, the experience of preparing for the SAT through the study group I had wasn't bad at all, it was actually pretty welcoming. Interviewer: And so why did you choose Florida Test Prep for SAT prep?
Daniel's mom: I chose Florida Test Prep because my sister recommended us. And, you know, my nephew, his score jumped up significantly. And the attention to detail with Carson was what really attracted us to the program. And I can say this has been the first program, because he did another test prep before this, and I didn't see a difference. And this is the first time that he had a tutor, especially being online. I didn't think it was going to be... like, that's one of our turn-offs, is that, you know, oh, you need to be in person. And this was better than the in-person tutor that we went to. That was awesome. Yeah. It's just the truth. It really is the truth. Like, yeah, I felt like it was a complete waste of money taking him to the other tutor in person. I wasn't able to communicate with them. I asked for their phone number and they were like, oh, just send an email. And I was like, you know... so, but at least this way, you know, like, you were sending us, like, text messages, like, oh, Daniel forgot to do this part of his homework, Daniel did this, you know? So I like that, because I may not be able to do all of that, and I want to, but I, you know, I can't. So at least if I know that someone is just making sure that, you know, he's staying on track, then he'll be able to do his best.
Interviewer: So Daniel, what are your goals, you know, after high school?
Daniel: After high school, I want to become an engineer. I'm still figuring out whether or not it's either, like, mechanical or something, like, I guess, a little bit more specialized, like biomedical. But definitely, like, an engineer.

Interviewer: And so what do you think improved the most during the course?
Daniel: What improved the most for me was my speed when doing hard math problems.
Daniel's mom: I think your confidence also increased. Like, when you came out of the test, you knew that you did really well in math.
Interviewer: And so what would you tell a parent who's on the fence about us?
Daniel's mom: Oh, I would say absolutely do it. Absolutely do it. Because I think you get more than your money's worth.
Interviewer: Is there anything else that we did well that you would, you know, want other parents to know about?
Daniel's mom: It's the best. Yeah, the parent check-ins are the best. Like, just getting a text saying, you know, this is what's missing. And, like, I think even the way in which you... I liked getting the workbooks in the mail, and then even an extra notebook, you know, because it kind of set the tone as to, like, you know, this is how you're supposed to... this is what you're supposed to do.
Interviewer: And what would you tell a friend about us?
Daniel: I would definitely recommend. I think, like, the accountability aspect is very good, as well as the homework. I really love the homework.
Interviewer: Any way as a parent where you thought this could have been improved, or something that you would have liked more, or wish it had that it didn't?
Daniel's mom: No, I thought it was... I was very pleased.
