Scholarship money tied to the SAT in Indiana

Indiana has no statewide SAT-cutoff scholarship: the state's two big aid programs, 21st Century Scholars and the Frank O'Bannon Grant, are built around household income, GPA (2.5 minimum for 21st Century Scholars), and a Core 40 diploma, with no SAT/ACT component; score-tied money in Indiana instead comes from individual universities' own automatic scholarship grids, and Indiana State University publishes one of the clearest, with an explicit SAT/ACT number as one of three qualifying criteria.

Indiana State University Academic Excellence Scholarship: $3,000 per year, automatic on admission by the December 1 deadline, no separate application.

Indiana State University President's Scholarship: Full in-state tuition plus traditional housing and food; 18 awards per cycle, admission deadline December 1.

Quick answers

What SAT score do you need for IU Bloomington?

There is no published minimum; the middle half of the reported group scored 1250 to 1450. A score at or above 1450 puts a student in the top quarter of that group. A score near 1250 is within the range, and grades, coursework and the rest of the application still decide the outcome.

Is IU Bloomington test-optional?

Yes. IU Bloomington lists its policy as: Test optional (45% of fall 2025 admits applied test optional). A score inside or above the range can still strengthen an application, and some scholarships and programs use scores separately.

What is IU Bloomington's acceptance rate?

78.2% (fall 2024, 67,658 applicants). Rates vary by program and residency, so read the overall figure as context, not a personal prediction.

Does a score above the range guarantee admission?

No. A middle 50% is a description of last year's group, not a cutoff in either direction. It tells you where a score is competitive, which is the useful part for planning test dates.
