SAT Prep for Plant High School Students

Our founder graduated from Plant. Dozens of Panthers have raised their SAT scores with us since, most of them into Bright Futures money and the ranges UF, FSU, UCF and USF actually admit.
Florida Test Prep was featured on Tampa Bay 28, the ABC affiliate serving the Tampa Bay area.

Florida Test Prep was started by a Plant graduate

Carson Flowers went to Plant High School in South Tampa. No college fund, and a first SAT of 1050. He built a system to fix it, and by senior year he scored a 1430. That number earned $30,000 in Bright Futures, a spot in FSU Honors, a very selective Presidential Scholarship, and $81,000 in scholarships in total.

A couple of years after graduating he started tutoring on the side, and that became Florida Test Prep. We still work almost entirely with Florida families, and Plant families are the ones we have worked with longest.

The Florida Academic Scholars score of 1330 pays 100% of tuition and lands inside USF and UCF ranges, ten points under FSU’s floor. It is the single most valuable number a Plant junior can chase.

Timing for Plant students

Bright Futures scores must come from a test taken by August 31 of your teen’s graduation year. That ends senior-year testing earlier than most Plant families expect, and it is the single most common thing we have to fix in a hurry.

  • Sophomores: take a baseline diagnostic now, sit the first official test late sophomore or early junior year.
  • Juniors: test in the fall, retake in March, leaving May, June and August as insurance.
  • Seniors: count backward from August 31. If the Bright Futures score is not locked, every remaining date matters.
